One Of A Kind....Sambalpuri Ikat Saree ! Authentic and rare to find Sambalpuri (From northern region of Orisha) hand woven ikat saree (locally called Baandha). Green color cotton base fabric. Pallu & Border features are multi color very intricate and complex process abstract, shankha (conch) & geometric design with single ikat woven work (Single Ikat fabric is created by interweaving tied and dyed warp with plain weft or resisted weft yarns are inserted in plain weft). With similar woven work on center part of saree. Ikat work saree very rare to find. Motifs-Most of the designs are cotton-based, it suitable for all weathers. A huge range of motifs are actualized by the weavers like, deer, elephant, duck, and lion, as well as floral designs, like shankha (shell), the Konark wheel, and the Kumbha or temple motifs, Lord Kaalia (Jagannatha)'s face are especially popular. Authentic ikat work are extremely rare and take great skill it takes three people about four-to-seven days or month to weave a patola, making it expensive and time-consuming.
