Pochampally ikat, is a type of silk that finds its origin in a small town of Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) Pallu & Border features are multicolor very intricate and complex process tiny abstract design with single ikat woven work (Single Ikat fabric is created by interweaving tied and dyed warp with plain weft or resisted weft yarns are inserted in plain weft.). And similar ikat work with abstract design in center part of saree. As the item is vintage some mild stains are visible . Ikat work saree very rare to find. Ikat weaving requires a lot of precise mental calculations, vivid imagination, many figure, patience, undivided attention, and dexterity of the hand. This form of weaving requires the most skill for precise patterns to be woven and is considered the premiere form of ikat. The amount of labor and skill required also make it the most expensive. Pochampally ikat sarees are famous of the geometric patterns on them. However, modern Pochampally sarees borrow heavily from the Patola sarees of Gujarat, which means that the motifs are a mix of elephants, parrots, dancing girls and flowers.
